Dear Angels,
Please wrap your arms around those
who are hurting today,
and let them feel how much you
love and care for them...
Grief
Grief can make us seem very selfish,
focussed only on the people we lost,
Ignoring our loved ones around us,
not aware of the hurt and loss.
We miss events, parties, and get-togethers.
We stare blank at people when they speak,
life totally feels dark and bleak.
It isn't that we don't want to take part.
We just need time to adjust and learn,
how to live with a broken heart.
I thought of you today,
but that was nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday
and days before that too.
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and
your picture in a frame.
Your memory a keepsake
from which I'll never part.
God has you in his arms,
I have you in my heart.
I've learned - that no
matter how badly
your heart is broken,
the world doesn't stop
for your grief.
Grief is the last act of love
we have to give to those we
loved. Where there is deep
grief, there is great love.
Speak Their Name
Someone I love has gone away,
And life is not the same.
The greatest gift that you can give,
Is just to speak their name.
I need to hear the stories,
And the tales of days gone past.
I need for you to understand,
These memories must last.
We cannot make more memories,
Since they're no longer here.
So when you speak of them to me,
It's music to my ears.
Heaven's Little Angel
You're one of Heaven's Angels now,
A perfect little star.
And when you shine the world can see,
How beautiful you are.
May you fly with magic wings,
On clouds so soft and white.
May your heart be joyful,
And your days be bathed in light.
And though our hearts are broken,
And your life was far too short.
We thank you, sweetest angel,
For the happiness you brought.
Grief, after the initial shock of loss, comes on in waves.
When you're driving alone in your car, while you're doing the dishes,
while you're getting ready for work... and all of a sudden it hits you-
how so very MUCH you miss someone, and your breath catches,
and your tears flow, and the sadness is so great,
that it's physically painful!
Nicole Gabert
The moment that you left me, my heart was split in two.
One side was filled with memories, the other side died with you.
I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep,
and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek.
Remembering you is easy, I do it everyday,
but missing you is a heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain,
you see life has gone on without you, but will never be the same.
But grief is a walk alone.
Others can be there, and listen. But you will walk alone down your own path,
at your own pace, with your sheared-off pain, your raw wounds,
your denial, anger, and bitter loss.
You'll come to your own peace, hopefully... but it will be on your own,
in your own time.
